Mrs MacSid and I are expecting our first little one later this year and have started preparing. We've heard of (and seen) the vastly lower prices in Germany compared to here for higher-ticket items and are planning to spend a weekend in the Dusseldorf - Cologne conurbation (about 1.5-2 hours away from us), but do need some advice / recommendations on places to go and/or the names of stores. We're particularly interested in cots (especially those that convert into junior-beds), buggies/prams and incidental nursery furniture.
Anyone know or have experience of places that they can recommend?

Sanjay, glad to hear the good news mate.
We went to BabyOne in Aachen for all our shopping - including baby furniture. You're right in saying it's cheaper - it was, plus the quality was better. They have a shop close to your destination:

we've also bought online at baby-walz.de
all the best,

Thanks for that, Andy. We've been on a couple of the online stores, including baby-walz.de and babybutt.de. They certainly look good, but nothing beats seeing the stuff and handling it (call me old-fashoined!)
ps. we did a bunch of baby-clothes shopping in the US 2 weeks ago. Nothing beats their prices, and that's even before you factor in the USD-EUR exchange rate
