I drove a $1.5 million Honda Fuel Cell Car (FCX) last week, one of three here in the state for field demo purposes. That was in preparation of getting it to an alternative fuel vehicle event. Because it is basically an electric mini-locomotive, it has great low end torque.

Did I feel guilty arriving at the Honda dealership in my 545? Nah, the service manager actually complimented me on my taste in vehicles. I thanked him and commented that it was surely the only vehicle on his lot with a Gas Guzzler Tax premium on it.

Cheers,
Ray Hull

the normal gas, "Super", costs 1,45 ? per litre in germany!!! diesel is not better: 1,20? per litre!! 40 years ago you got excited about 20 pfennig per litre. 20 pfennig = 10 cent!!! this is inflation!

Well, not in 30 years, but close to that, like 300 maybe...Don't forget about Russia and Norway. Their oil resources/reserves are bigger than US.
If you want to worry yourself - look here:

Oil Crisis

According to this view the 'easy' oil will be hugely depleted by 2030 and all but gone by 2050.

In essense the argument is that we had used half of the worlds oil by 1999.

The last of it would be in the Middle East including one particular country recently annexed by the USA.

(NB - sorry - I don't want to offend anyones politics - I just don't think that we have 300 years in which to figure out where to get energy for the future).

There are more optomistic views out there - but then many of these are based on the middle east's 'claimed' reserves. Clearly the middle east has a huge economic advantage in maintaining workd reliance on oil for the medium term.

Personally - I hope that industry and governments are already on the road to working out what happens when it's gone.

$110 - $120 dollars everytime i want to fill up....

Sometimes even more when its from a motorway petrol station as they charge even more....

Either we need to invade more oil countries and then instead of taxing oil we sell it to other nations at a profit to replace lost tax revenue OR we need some kind of public upheavel which overthrow the government and return the country to some bizarre form of anarchy but where we can all enjoy cheap fuel!

WHOS WITH ME!

To combat the high fuel prices, I am riding on my 2-wheeler now. My 4.4L is sitting in the garage fully detailed and looking pretty; ready to collect dust.

Paid $135 to fill up yesterday.

And my OBC is showing 22.4mpg today (UK), and they wonder why we buy diesels!

I think what the US needs to do is invade a large Arab oil exporting country. Oh wait, we already did that and gas prices rose by 50%. Can someone please explain that one to me?? Thanks to our wonderful President and his friends in the oil business.

100% agree this whole thing is bizare, there is no way I'm buying M5 in any future. With gas prices like that its ridiculous to drive big engine cars no matter how much $$$ you make.
