the 535 D is known to be good for 200mph with out the limiter
The three that I tested were quite poor between 120mph and the limiter. It's one of the reasons I went V8 rather than the 535d. On the Autobahn you can be cruising at say 140mph and someone pulls into your lane and drops you down to 80mph. The 545 gets right back up to big speeds much much faster than the diesels (you can see that in the video at around 45 seconds I think ... someone makes me brake from 145mph down to 105mph and the V8s recovery is superb). Between 30 and 70, or 40 and 80mph there's not a lot in it, but when you get to triple digits the diesels start wimping out a bit. I'm sure when they're chipped and tuned they might do all manner of superhuman feats, but the standard ones don't. If we're talking tuning though (making the car non-standard) I could pop a V10 in mine

Nice video. I've run the 550i up to 135 mph on track. It had plenty left. Not too many cars in my run group were faster, aside from Porsche Turbos.

Re the 535d, top speed is all about HP versus drag, and proper gearing. Unless it has more than 325hp it will NOT be faster than the 545i. I'd guess the 545i tops our around 165mph and the 550i @ 170mph.

Thanks. I think most wouldn't believe how difficult it is to get a stable picture in a car. Especially one going very fast. You only have to go to youtube and search for Autobahn to find out just how bad they can be though.

Thanks. I'm currently uploading two more I shot today in Munich. I'm pretty sure I saw (and captured) an F10 5er test mule.

My tuned 530d pulls well on the autobahn, but that 545i is in a totally different league

I want a V8
I want a V8
I want a V8
I want a V8
I want a V8...

Thanks for sharing, great vid

are you on dope?
That made me laugh...^

I don't think I have reached the point where the limiter kicked yet... Honestly! I have been at 145ish I believe and had to slow down because, in Germany, when they hit the turn signal they change lanes. INSTANTLY! so, you will literally have to slow down really fast!

Good thing we are in BMW's lol
