Also had a snowmobile in those days with a Wankel engine.
A Wankel engine on a snowmobile???

Do you remember the NSU Ro 80 that had a wankel engine as well.
As my step dad did sell cars at that time I have been in one, not driving, though.

I think Mazda is the only one still selling wankel engine cars.

Very slippery

No, actually good spike tires (street legal over here but not racing ones) makes it like
driving on a very slippery road, but only kind off.

Save up some money and try it. It's the best way to learn how to handle a car.

Our small bmwclub.fi does arrange for almost free a ice driving course every winter.

Dad was with Outboard Marine Corp for many years. Their research studied many, many internal combustion engines including the Wankel. The snowmobile was not a production model but an experimental model by Pioneer, at that time, a Canadian division of OMC. Pioneer was best known then for chain saws.

I vaguely remember Dad importing some Wankel powered vehicle but it was not the NSU. This all took place in the 50s to mid 60s. I think the NSU Wankel was a few years later.

The NSU Ro 80 was a late 60's car.

The reason why we had one was that my step dad did sell M-B's and Audi's at that time.
The NSU was a Audi concept at that time.

Man, now THAT'S drifting in style. Also, much safer since innocent people aren't involved. Looks like a blast. I used to have a Mitsubishi Montero 4X4 in college, and definitely had some fun times sliding around snowy, empty, mall parking lots after hours. Just had to keep an eye out for the mall's Rent-A-Cop...and the light poles!
