This is amazing. As the driver says in the video:

"Okay, ready?"

I'm not impressed. An M6 with a Kelleners exhaust and chip can do 206mph, effortlessly. Russramz of m6board.com did just that on a Sunday morning on the Autobahn. No helmets required. He had a GPS to verify a top speed of 332kph and did it in two directions in a 9 minute video here: http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=O89UWHnFUl0
I have a hires download. I wish I could show the 480MB video. Its even more impressive to watch the speedo peg at 200+ mph.

EDIT: PS, the good part of the video starts at the 3:00 mark. The second run starts at 7:00. He has to back off and accelerates at the 9:00 mark for a 3rd time to 332kph!

Okay, admittedly, NOT my kind of car.....but still WOW! As a lifelong gearhead, all things mechanical, especially when going "Balls Out" are fascinating!! And this is NO exception!...Thanks for the link!!

You have to give it to Chevy for making a car that beats supercars 2 and 3 times the cost of the ZR1.

No matter how you cut it, the ZR1 (which is still pre-production) is stock, whilst the M6 isn't. Without the modifications, it would probably be tough to get close to 4000lbs of M6 to much over 200 mph with only 500hp. The ZR1 is over 600lbs lighter than the M6 and has nearly 140 additional horsepower. Whilst the weight penalty won't impact the M6 top speed all that much the (relative) lack of power probably would.

An exhaust and chip isn't going to add much HP. He's probably pushing 520-530hp tops. The M6 is more impressive than the ZR1 to me since it does 200+ mph with far more weight and far less HP, no super charging or other exotic race hardware, and does it without sounding as if its a race engine, just a Sunday drive on the autobahn at an incredible speed.

BTW, BMW claims the M6 can hit 200mph stock! In Germany they now come delimited. No need for a chip.

It's still a Chevy to me no matter what. Impressive nonetheless.

One thing that we might be forgetting is that with the new Corvette engine, they've gone back to a smaller engine + supercharger. How would the M6 engine compare to the Corvette if we added a supercharger to it?

In fairness, if you take a look over at M6board.com it does look like the particular M6 from the video has much more than just an exhaust and a chip...
