Looking at it from a distance, I get the feeling most people voted in the way they did because they didn't want the other candidate to win, not because they support theirs so much..

I strongly disagree with your assesment. Using the word "MOST" paints a very broad stroke. Quite a generalization of the voting public. I wouldn't even say the majority of people use the "lesser of two evils" as their basis of voting. Many people, myself included, back a party because of their overall platform. Taxes/health care/education/and military are the big questions the U.S. has at the moment.

I do agree with Mark that a third party (a viable non right/left aproach) would be a good thing. The two parties have polarized themselves into black and white politics, this deters new approaches to some of our (U.S.) problems. New ideas are needed.

It was the front page a day or two ago (maybe 3 for you Ice,? your 1/2 way around the world).

Pathetic paper it is. Dumb?? Dumb was the luck of 400,00 U.S. soldiers that helped defend the U.K. and others in two world wars. I'm sick of the U.S. getting Sh*@? on.

The world's smallest violin is playing for you now.

Spare us the revisionist history lesson. The US joined both World Wars when it suited it to do so.

And thank God we did or you would not only be driving a German car but you would be speaking German as well.

In my comments, which part exactly is revisionist? The Fact that 400,000 soldiers died, or that we came to aid our brethren? I did not reference WHEN or WHY, just stated a fact, that many soldiers gave their lives in two horrific wars. I would think that that alone earns SOME respect. If that was the headline in a US paper regarding UK citizens concerning Blair or Thatcher or the next in line, US citizens including myself would be pissed.

I'm not looking for your sypathy, nor your concerto(a RUDE comment), just respect from a nation that is closely tied to the US in many ways! I figured the paper printed that headline to sell maximum copies.......apparently some Brits feel the headline has some truth.

Peace. I'll be thinking of you on Thursday (veterans day).

I really don't care about WW I or II, I don't care about the other wars...
I just don't like that the press is doing that.
I wouldn't even like it if it would be about Hussein, Araffat or who ever.
You have to respect the elected leaders of other countrys, even if you don't like them...
That cover is simply WRONG!

Sorry, I just didn't see how you could take a headline printed in a left-wing tabloid rag and use it to spark a debate about participation in 2 World Wars.

Please don't think I undervalue the contribution made by the States

OK, let's forget about WW I + II then... It's still wrong... Isn't it?
