Hello,

My wife and I are looking to visit New York in mid-September. We want a hotel near Times Square.

Anyone know of any good priced, decent hotels?

Thanks
Jas

All I know is there is nothing cheap and you'd better do your research and make sure you don't end up becoming bedbug feed

Let's hear it for New York!

+1 While Times Square has really been cleaned up over the last 20 years, there is still a HUGE difference between "cheap" and "decent" there. Plenty of nice-to-good hotels, but none are "cheap", sorry. Look around and you can probably find a deal on a good hotel though. Good luck

Best Western President and Best Western Ambassador are two that I usually stay at (but haven't been for the last 4 years). Right in the thick of the times square action.

If you can get a good deal, the Marriott Marquis is undisputably the best location. Their rotating restaurant serves a nice Marguerita at outrageous prices. The W is also a good location for Times Square.

btw, if you're thinking it'll be mild weather in mid-september, it will still probably be hot hot hot. You'd need to wait till October to be sure of mildness.

It's true that there isn't a lot of 'cheap' hotels so it's gonna be hard to find. If you up your budget I have always enjoyed staying at the Westin Times Square.....www.westinny.com

Hotel in Times Square?? Shop around - you'd be lucky if you found anything less than $200 per night in a "decent" hotel. And that's probably NOT including garage parking which runs about another $35 per day.

Thanks guys. Ended up booking Hilton Garden Inn 35th West.

Not exactly Times Square but only 10 mins away. Managed to get a decent rate compared to everything else I could find. Still think it's expensive but seemed good for what the hotel.

I was thinking Sep because it would be milder but too late to change now.

Need to think of mods I can pick from Jon now.

Anyone suggest best places to go (it's our first time in NY and want to make the most of our week)

How long will you be there and what exact dates? I have a place in Manhattan and may not be using it then.

One time I stayed in Hotel 41 in times square on the corner of 41st and broadway I believe. I had trouble finding it in google earth because I think they were in the process of moving when their google truck came through but walking out the door and you are right in times square. It is a boutique hotel with free breakfast for ~200 in dec.
