He wasn't going very fast, and no birds to be seen.

UPDATE: Thanks to some great follow up reporting by the Galveston Daily News and their sister paper, we now know the man is Andy House of Performance Auto Sales in Lufkin, Texas. The shop, ironically, specializes in repairing wrecked exotics. We contacted House for a comment and here's what he said:

Yeah, pure luck! Really looks suspicious to me, just cruising along, next thing you know he's heading into the lake. No jerking movement to avoid anything, just a gentle turn to the right and you're all wet...

How about this detail I just read in the Galveston paper...

It was a saltwater lagoon! Man, that'll make a huge difference in the repairability of things...
