I read somewhere that BMW was the first car to become iPod ready. The reasoning behind this was that most people who drive BMW's own iPod's. Not sure how popular iPod's are in other countries but I've read people in other countries getting the aux port installed, so I'm pretty sure iPod's are popular everywhere.
I forgot to but a "don't own one button". Oh well, can't edit the selections.

The closest description on the poll was iPod. I actually have a 40GB ipod photo. Merzbow has a cool iPod holder in his E60.

I own an iPod w/ color screen--the newest version, which was previously known as the iPod Photo. I have a 20 GB version, which is advertised to hold up to 5,000 songs. I ripped most of my CD collection at a relatively high bit rate (256kbps VBR), so I can "only" fit about 3,000 tracks (around 200 CDs).
I connect the iPod using the aux input, hardwired it to a switched power source with a Monster iCarCharger (which has a line out), store it in the center armrest, and control it with a Griffin AirClick remote. While not a perfect solution (can't control it using steering wheel buttons, other than sound level), I find it works quite well. Here's a post with my install:

Even the BMW iPod connector (available for some BMW models but not the E60 yet) is a less than perfect solution, since you need to create up to 5 BMW specific playlists, and only these can be controlled by the steering wheel buttons.
