Agree - sounds weird.
Would be scary if happened, but sounds like if can't get neutral due to power, key off, grap neutral, then key on.

This sort of wording always makes me smile.... does that mean that they're aware of issues of that nature with other models. Gee, I hope not.
Regardless of the cause, ya gotta give Mr Nicholle credit for not causing a serious pileup.

I heard several years ago, that as BMWs have a hinged accelerator pedal (i.e. connected to the floor), the car mats would often slip forward and obviously push jam the accelerator. I guess that's the reason why the floor mats on new BMWs and other makes have the floors mats screwed/buttoned to the floor. As this was an older BMW maybe that was a possible cause??? Just a thought.

Have a look at this article, the same thing happened a few years ago to a truck driver on the M1.Turned out to be a lie.

Wow there was no way to stop? had to crash to stop? Hard to believe it got stuck in gear and cant shift to neutral... Ya and also could have found a straight on the A1 and just shut off the engine... even if you lose steering it would only have been a little off and he would have just side slid into the center divider... I dunno but hard to believe
