My aim is to build a new media centre PC with a BluRay drive, and then either add an HD-DVD drive or replace with a dual format drive, depending which one comes out first at a reasonable price. Stick 1Tb of HD inside and then just rip the films to the hard drive and play them from there. So I really don't mind which media format wins, but I still maintain it will be HDDVD, so there.
LOL! So THERE! Now scram kid! Beat it I said!

Given all the comparisons to BetaMax and other now mostly defunct formats I thought this was appropriate.

Ironic really. A "Beta Player" gets lobbed into the junk cupboard - it was actually a Sony Betamax.

The main BluRay sponsor is..............

Yup, my Memory Stick toting, DRM promoting friends....Sony.

I don't care what Sony really did or better said what it did in the past, in fact i don't even know what you guys mean by a Betamax. I don't care too much either, but anyway i look now at Sony quality and that's it.

Cutting the chase i am a Sony lover. I like Sony for it's quality even though most of the time you pay the brand. Bravia engines in my eyes are the best, cameras are one of the best, players the same, luxury notebooks, in fact i can't even think of bad producs from Sony, and Blu-Ray is also better from a technological point of view. I'm willing to bet Blu-Ray will come out on top, i voted for Blu-Ray and i want it to be the winner. One thing i don't get is why a person would buy a Sony Blu-Ray player at aprox 1000$ when the PS3 is less then half the money plus you get the gaming console. I didn't yet look throughly at that player specs but i don't know why it is so darn expensive. I mean you get Blu-Ray from Sony almost at half the price in PS3 and in aprox 1/4 incorporated in latest generatio laptops. So what's the deal?! Also i find Blu-Ray medias too expensive yet. Here a blank media cots around 20$ but at that money you could buy 20 pack good quality DVDs or 50 not so good DVDs. So i expect the price to go down in the near future and significantly to go down after the war is won.
