I grew up one town over from Edison. It is indeed a nice place. Great proximity to commute to Manhattan. Sky high real estate taxes. Car insurance is also steep.

I moved from there 1.5 yrs ago.
taxes aren't that bad because there is so many businesses and office complexes that contribute to taxes, but also contribute to traffic and congestion.
the school system stinks and my kids would all have to go to private school if we stayed.
I didn't mind living there before it got crowded and congested.
Now we are in western NJ with lots of property & quiet country living.
