The closest thing I can come up with in the way of round speaker is this sub from B&W

The TV selection is super super easy. Given your requirement for black levels, it can only be one of the Samsungs with LED Smartlighting. Licensed from a company named Brightside, the panel is lit by a matrix of white LEDs. The processing adjusts the lighting of the underlying LED matrix based on the media content and can even turn them off completely in areas (or on the entire panel) to achieve unrivalled black levels.

This is a review of the original $50,000 37" Brightside. It needed to be liquid cooled due to the power and heat used and generated by the LED technology a few years ago. Fortunately, Haitz's Law (kind of like Moore's Law but for LEDs) has permitted the technology to be in normal LCD TVs now. No liquid cooling, much lower cost.

One word ... BUDGET?? Without knowing that, it's impossible to make any suggestions.
Cable for example, do you want to pay $0.10 a metre, or $500 a metre, or anywhere inbetween...!!

.....so no thanks, I'll pass on the $2500 XLO stuff.
Overall Budget... $5-6K most of that on the TV because my aim is great picture with satisfying sound, not top billing at Stereophile.

Happy New Year 'UUronL' and thanks for the tip, I'll start the research with this Samsung.
Happy New Year!
You can see the TV at most Best Buy/Magnolia locations. Bear in mind that buying now means you'll be incurring the penalty of buying the latest and greatest technology. Both plasma and LCD costs are freefalling and analysts think prices will drop about 20% in 2008. Manufacturers of these kinds of TV technologies are counting on propping themselves up on the newest offerings. For plasma, it's the 8th Gen Pioneer (Kuro) which gets inky blacks through a polymer-infused glass substrate - kind of like a ND filter. For LCD, it's this technology. Either way, the new models are several times more expensive than really nice-looking TVs based on commoditized legacy technology.

HDMI Cables: DVIgear.com. Look at their Super High res cables. They are the best. Run from Monster or any cable that the sell in stores.
Other speaker and Video cables: www.bluejeancable.com.
The Orb speakers also received great reviews. You may need a separate sub. Best sub IMO: Velodyne.
Good luck finding a receiver with only 14 1/2 inch depth. maybe separates??
Cheers

To resolve the issue of putting components on top of the bedroom furniture, I made a series of brackets which I attached to the back of the dresser. I then placed the components in the brackets "front side up" so the front was about 1/2 inch lower than the top of the dresser. This will work for everything except the dvd player, (unless the dvd player has a center spindle for the discs to snap onto). The remote controls still work. And you do not need to move the furniture more than an inch or so further away from the wall than you would otherwise to accommodate plugs. Note, I did not do this with a high end A/V receiver which is typically taller than the other components and would require you to move the furniture a little further away.

The Orbs come with a sub if you buy the system but I agree with you on the Velodyne, that's what I have in the living room.
As for the receiver....I'm going to need luck indeed, my Pioneer is 17 1/2 not including cable clerance.!
