That car is amazing, and for $45,000 you can't go wrong. Although it's not street legal in the US.

WRONG!!! This this is not street legal in MOST states in the US. It's legal in AZ and California that I know of for sure. You have to go through some b/s to get the plates, but insurance is what is going to kill you. http://forum.atomclub.com/ is a good spot to find some dicussion about the car. You can pick up a fully capable 0-60 2.9 second car for a mere 45K, plus the additional 12K in options. Anyway, I was toying with the wife a year or so back about getting one... still waiting for the go ahead.. haha

Somehow I messed up my calculation, it's actually almost 67K (US) for the 300. As for it being street legal, I don't know. On the Atom website it says that "The US Atom is a purpose built racecar, intended for track use only." I suppose there are ways around it, similar to making an ATV street legal, but I'd rather not go through all the hassle.

Does it matter if it is street legal if they cannot catch you?
