I had a apoinment at 8 a.m. to service my car.
I arrived at dealer 30min earlier, as soon as I arrived I figured there is no way I could get in to my house with out homelink on my car.
I had to go back home and set up a appointment for another day which is 2 weeks later..
This is not my first time either, like an year ago I have to break one of my garage window to get in. It was the day I bought E60, and of course I traded my car in.
had anybody have similar experience?

Never had that happen. Once when car was at the dealer, I had to go in through the front of the house and get the handheld remote that came with the garage door opener to park the loaner in the garage though. Don't you have the handheld remote as a back up?

Or go to one of the "outdoor" vehicles and retrieve remote once I have gotten thru the "ELECTRIC" gate on the driveway.

Similar story--a previous BMW a few years ago was in the shop and they ended up replacing several electronic control units--I got home, pressed the homelink button...and... nothing. Naturally I didn't have the garage door opener remote with me, and I haven't carried a house key in decades, so there I was locked out of my house.

Maybe you should get a keypad linked to your garage opener, you can get them on ebay cheap. Or pay a garage door service guy to come out to you and install one. That way all you need to do to get in is press a combination and wahla your in.

I think a lot of the keypads are battery operated and just glue onto the side of the house.
