Word is that Apple is considering an $8bn bid (less than 20% of its current cash) for ARM. Will be interesting to see how this spans out, coming just a couple of days after Google's deal with AgniLux and the ties of that company to Apple and PA Semi (which was of course acquired by Apple). It's a big deal for 2 reasons, firstly Apple is now in the RISC business with the self-designed A4 processor, and ARM designs are in over 90% of cellphones...

Interesting no doubt, ive read a few other stories on this as well, some argue they dont believe it would serve apple any benefit unless they were going to corner the market, though surely others could fill the void if needed...we shall see if apple wants to take on the chip world
