My Ride: Bmw 530d 2004
After a long time, I was browsing the mp3car.com that used to be my favourite site before the E60forums/5series.net. I used to check it daily finding answers for my own multimedia project with my previous car, Toyota Avensis Sportswagon 2004.
Now when I look it back, I'm pretty proud of what I achieved. I kind of miss projects like this.
And I dare to share the project with the respected BMW folks here, if you don't mind .
I had got a private message from the Norwegian home computer magazine and they were asking if they could use my project pics in their article concerning pc's in cars! Too bad the mail was sent in March and I never replied it .
I built a PC in my car and enhanced the hifi system. The summary:
- PC
- Touch screen
- Touch pad
- Keyboard
- GPS navigation
- Full set of Rainbow speakers
- Carpower Blackbass-10 subwoofer
- Xetec Vector 350.6 - 6-channel amplifier
- Xetec ParaQ-7 Mk2 equalizer
- Damping the whole car
Oh well, the full thread is here with tons of pics. Enjoy: Anzafin's AvePC Project
And here's some random pics:

I think I don't want to mess with the e60's electric system like that .

Thorough and gorgeous job
Checked out the link to the original thread - the amount of work and quality of fabrication is very impressive. You just won't get that kind of quality from a store. Wow, Antti, just wow! Does it make a difference at all that the touchscreen covers the vents?

It didn't make much difference. I struggled with the problem of locating the screen for a long time and then I decided to make a stand for it.
I had the system complete only 3-4 months then I changed the car to my current ride. Can you imagine, I worked that thing about a year or so and then ripped it all off in one night (I left the speakers, damping and wiring under the carpet) . The feeling was indescribable .
