i have altered my vegas trip a little bit and planning to stay one more night there. will drive to palm springs the next morning and will leave around 4:30 p.m. the following day. most likely i'll stay in monterey park after the desert hills shopping trip. i have to go back for the yummy chinese food . so my question is which shopping mall is near the l.a. airport or monterey park that is worth going? i don't want to go too far (w/i an hour is better) since i have to be at the airport around 3 p.m. any recommendations? i'm going to stay in one of those cheap hotels around monterey park for a night. i think i stayed in holiday inn or something similar last time. it was ok. safe and clean. that's all i care. any suggestions or deals? oh, btw, for the ones who live/know that area, which chinese restaurant is your favorite for dinner and breakfast? i went to one that is very near to the 99 ranch supermarket. i think less than five blocks away. the food is sooooo good and 50% off after 9 or 9:30 p.m. always crowded. i really want to go back there but i forgot the name . thank you again !

alohalc,

We are far from LA so don?t know of many of the great shopping spots. We go to Santa Monica Place Mall. Across the street from the mall is the Third Street Promenade, is a street full of shops and resultants. Some of the shops include FCUK and Bebe. It's nothing like Ala Monana Shopping Center (LOL). I posted some links for both of them and directions from the Airport to the mall. Have fun and make sure you share some pics.

thank you, guys ! i think i'll leave monterey park early in the morning. i'll have almost half day to do some last minute shopping . central cali, based on the two sites that you provided, third street promenade sounds fun . less than 30 minutes from monterey park and about 15 minutes to the airport. santa monica place has many "leasing opportunities" which means the shopping center is dead quiet...or the website is not updated .

ericdbs, can you tell me more about the grove? you have any link? thanks.

If it's not too late, I recommend South Coast Plaza in Santa Ana/Costa Mesa. It's about 20 - 30 miles south of LAX. Lots of upscale shopping can be done there. I used to work about 2 miles from that mall. The women that shop there are beau-ti-ful!

Are you still in Monterey Park? I am real close, in case you're still there, and can give you plenty of suggestions. PM me if you're still interested in information!
