Nothing.

I have a 5D, and I'm thinking about getting a 7D as a backup and as a crop camera. Crop can be better for telephoto shooting, since you're putting more pixels on a given area of the FOV. The 7D has a few advantages that the lower-end FF cams don't. Killer AF, proper weather seals, and it can shoot @ 8fps. It also has -very- nice video capabilities. The wireless flash control in the body is a great thing too. I missed that when I switched from Nikon to Canon.

Right. Wouldn't we all like a 5D that is weather sealed, has wireless flash control, 8fps, and the new 19 pt AF system?

This is likely the sensor technology we'll see in the EOS-1Ds Mk IV. The 5D II won't be updated for years.

I'm thinking that if I get the 7D, I'll pick up the 17-40L. That will serve as my wide angle for the 5D, and the "normal" zoom on the 7D.

I have been considering the 50D (or its replacement). With Canon's announcement, the 7D is definitely on my radar now.

My digital photography has been limited to point-and-shoot type cameras. Haven't used my Elan and the EFs (bought the 650 in '87) for quite a few yrs. Hoping to reuse these lenses with the 7D.

BTW, anyone out there who wants to take the Elan II off my hands? Practically unused...have probably cycled < 10 rolls thru it.
