C's Bimmer

So today, I had lunch with member, gregg2gs (Gregg) and his lovely wife. We met at PF Changs at the Source Mall, near Roosevelt Field. After lunch, Gregg's wife took off and he and I left with our respective cars. As we pulled onto Old Country Rd, heading towards the highway, we decided to have a little fun and see how he faired against the M5 from a rolling start (Gregg has a 550, for those that don't know). We kept speeding up and slowing down, speeding up and slowing down. As we started into our last "speeding up" move, I noticed that Gregg slowed down quite abruptly. I actually had to get over to my right immediately and enter the highway, heading north. Just as I did that, an undercover cop slowed down right next to me. As he passed by me, because of my unexpected bolt to the right, he opened up his PA. What were his exact words to me? "SMART MOVE!". The funny part is, I had NO idea he was coming or behind me until he said those two words. I had to do a double take and see that it was in fact, an undercover cop.

Gregg called me 10 seconds later laughing. He said he had been behind us for a while, but was a ways back behind a few other cars. When I pulled my last move, he sped up to try and nail me. Fortunately, he didn't have enough time to pull me over and my quick turn to get on the highway was too fast for him. He was already preparing to pull up on my left and get in front of me to turn on his lights. The best part was, I had no idea he was there and my immediate turn onto the highway was only because I had to and I waited until the last second to be next to Gregg. Hahahaha!

I guess him saying "Smart Move", was his way of saying, "You are one lucky son of a b*&ch!"

And that's my story for the day. This car is bad news. That's twice in a week I've had close calls!

Tonight was so funny. On our way home from dinner, my wife was like, "why are you driving so slow down this road?". I was going 30mph and cars were passing me. I said, "the speed limit is 30 and I'm staying at 30. This road is known for speed traps!". Hahahaha! I'm so freakin' paranoid now even though I have a V1.
