I wonder if that tail camera has a reverse view when pushing back from the gate.
More pictures of the same plane...

Maybe those handles open all doors at a time...
Or they could be the "I sh*t my pants" handles...
Whatever they are for, you need to take the hand off that joystick, so it seems as it is for on the ground use only.

Yes, it'd be a lot cleaner with an iDrive.
Anyway, it'll never be a hit in the US - not enough cup holders...

A good friend of mine is a pilot for United Airlines, and he cannot stand ANY Airbus product. He states that they are unnecessarily intricate and have MANY mechanical issues. He would not fly one ever as he does not feel they are safe. Case in point an Airbus jet about 18 months ago took off from LAX and the front wheel would not retract completely or snap into position to land. So they flew around for a couple of hours to burn off fuel and then came in for an "uneventful" Emergency landing. Sparks flying etc. but it was due to the fact that instead of just having the landing gear deploy straight down, France's Airbus engineers decided it should also rotate 90 degrees before stowing away in the fuselage. Now had the plane cartwheeled and people were killed it would have obviously been a much bigger issue, but why risk passengers anyway with unnecessarily intricate engineering??
