Hey guys,
I've been thinking to get a new Acura MDX this september.
I have not heard anything bad about this car so far.
My e60 will be up for sale soon. I need a bigger car now. My family members will be coming from Indonesia to the states soon.
I was wondering if anyone have any experience or heard the good and bad things about this car.
I saw the reviews and videos about this car, and like it.
Any suggestions or comments will be very helpful.
Thank you.
Yoko

I had 2003 and currently have 2007. It is a great crossover SUV, especially when equipped with all the goodies, e.g., navi and rear entertainment. The only issue I have with 2007 is the gas mileage. The car is full-time AWD. I average 14-15 mpg local and 18-20 mpg highway. With the current gas price level and trend, be prepare to foot that gas bills often. Hope this helps. GL

We have an '04 MDX love it. I think the old and the new models are one of the of best values for the money; nicely styled and beautifully equipped. My friend has an '07 model and I think it looks sweet. If we were to trade in our MDX, I would probably look towards an X5 or something only because I'm a European Car fanatic (hence the forum handle) but I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with the latest MDX.

Nearly bought a new MDX for my wife in May. Main reasons we didn't relate to the third row. It's way too cramped, but more importantly you can only access the third row from one side of the car. We considered that to be more than just an inconvenience, it's a safety risk in the event of an accident. Should that side happen to be blocked for whatever reason, exiting from the car would be very difficult in the event of an accident. We carry the kids in the car and these third row issues were the deal killer for us.
Other than that, it's a nice car. We ended up with a Mazda CX-9. Not that different in price, but it is just about as quick, has great steering and handling, and has more room than the MDX. We have the AWD Grand Touring which lists at about the same price as the standard MDX. For us it was the better car. If you're looking at the MDX I'd recommend you look at the CX-9 too (NB, not the smaller CX-7 which has the four cylinder engine).

If I were in the market for that type of vehicle, the new MDX would be high on my list to check out. I have a neighbor who has several BMWs. but recently opted for the new MDX over the X5, said he just couldn't justify the extra $ for the X5. That's just him, but the MDX is a very capable machine.

My sister-in-law, who can afford whatever-the-hell she wants, has had two of these. I think an '04 and then an '06. She absolutely loved them. She's super picky, so they must be good cars if she bought two. She got a new X5 this year only because her boyfriend talked her into going German for a change. Also, she knows I am a BMW fan and liked my e60, so she thought she'd give it a go. She'll probably be on to something else in 24 months!

I really like the MDX.. but the 3rd row was too small/tight for our family (we have 3 rugrats) and for long trips(and trips to Costco) the rear storage wasn't enough. For those reasons, we ended up with a Yukon Denali XL. But the gas prices are just ridiculously high. And if I was to do it over again, I buy a Prius, and tow a trailer for the extra storage space!
GL luck with the SUV shopping... btw.. check out the new Lincoln Navigator(looks very nice in and out and can run on regular unleaded fuel).
