Here are the photos of the rotors and calipers on my car. They were rusted and looked horrible so I wanted to take care of this before the new wheels arrive next week. Here are a couple of before and after picts of all the work that I did on the rotors. You'll see a hydraulic jack under the car not to worry it's not supporting the car just there as a precaution up against a control arm slightly touching it. Some of the paint did get on the rotor but came off after i drove the car as you'll see in some on the photos towards the end.

The last three photos show the damage I got last week while parked in Manhattan.

THANKS DAVE (Drlev99)

Nice job. Curious what type of paint you used. High temperature I hope.

I've had my 535i for a little over 2 months now, and my rotors and calipers don't show any signs of rust or corrosion... And we've had a lot of rain here. I do garage the car at night though, so the car never stays wet for long.

I'm very sorry about your rear-end ding. Hope you get it fixed "like new". I dread the day I find a mark on mine.

I had recommended the Dupli-Color Caliper paint, which is a high temp paint.

Great job !. just fill that bumper gouge with lots of touch up paint and wet sand it down then buff it out and it will virtually be gone , did this to my old 540 and it worked great.

This is the right kit, but when I did mine, I just went to PepBoys and got the spray paint only. You can clean and sand the areas with basic mineral spirits and fine sandpaper.

I did not buy the kit what I did buy was the Dupli-Color High Performance Caliper Paint with Ceramic. The color is silver (matt grey top) and withstands temperatures up to 500?. It's made for Calipers, drums and rotors. I did all of this on Dave's recommendation, again thanks Dave.

The reason I had so much rust has to be from the hand car wash I go to. They always spray the wheels with some liquid to get the brake dust off. From now on, especially with the new wheels, soap and water only.

As far as the prep I did not use anything other than sanding with a sand sponge 320 grit. I was able to get allot of the rust off and then I used a can of air duster that you use for the computer and sprayed all around getting allot of the sanding dust and rust off. Then I wiped it down with a damp micro fiber towel, then I masked and painted the rotors and calipers. It looks great and I love it. It made me feel like the car was new again. I do recommend covering the rotor where the brakes grab because when this paint dries it's like baked tile and the grinding to get it off the rotor sounds horrible and I only had a little bit on the rotors. It's all good now and it still looks great.
