Who here can get us a wide angle side mirror (EU Spec) from Europe? As I understand it, they're about $320USD but they're not available from US Dealers. I've got these for my e39 and they're a lifesaver.
Thanks, Ben |

I'm interested in this as well. [/quote ----- Yes the wide angle mirrors are lifesavers for blindspots, and my BMW can't get them either!! If you find some let me know too. (I had to buy cheap spot mirrors at auto zone for 7.00! They work, but...) Eddie aka Presley348 |

Im sure you can get them esily from dealer in EU. Many places in EU except for U.K have left hand drive mirror with wide angle lens.

Give me a part number and I will investigate!

Ok, tomorrow, I will send a message to BMW here and ask about prices.
WARNING: when I originally asked my dealership's parts department about M5 mirrors for my E61 last December, they told me to sit down before telling me the prices. :| If memory serves me, just the auto-dimming glass was approximately 400 Euros PER MIRROR. :( VAT is 22% as well here in Soviet Finland. :o Anyway, all we can do is ask. There may also be a cheaper, non-Finland option as well. I will let you know more news tomorrow. |
I am still waiting to get a reply about these.

Thanks Patrick.
I didn't hear from them today, and tomorrow is a holiday here. So lets see what I can come up with on Friday. |

Whoa! That's pretty hefty :o almost the cost of M5 mirrors. Thanks for inquiring about the prices, Patrick.
And true about the M5 mirror cost. Maybe we should wait until the Euro is a lot cheaper! Perhaps there is someone else from the EU that would be willing to check these out for you. Prices from BMW Finland are generally considered to be extremely high. |
Big ouch! Can't believe the cost of this tiny mirror!!

IIRC, they were $45USD for my e39. Well, in the meantime, I've got one of these guys: http://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=15736541 It's nice but it doesn't dim, of course, and my big head blocks a bit of the view. Ben |
On every vehicle that I have owned, I've been able to adjust the mirrors so I don't have any blind spots for 1 lane left and right. I do have blind spots two lanes over on large highways, but I've never found that to be much of an issue.
As a car leaves the rear view mirror, it enters the side view mirror and as it leaves the side view mirror it enters my peripheral vision. Most people seem to have their side view mirrors set up to see the car behind them, which means they have terrible blind spots. Am I missing something, or are people concerned about the blind spot for traffic two lanes over? |
Hi Guys
Many moons ago I had a E60 and was just clearing out my garage at the weekend, I have a set of these with the wide angle, and they are original BMW items in the original boxes, the car was leased, so I put the standard ones back on before the car went back, I will be putting them on ebay shortly but let me know if any of you want them, I am open to offers and I remember them being rather expensive, but that was a long time ago!. I am based in London, UK. Thanks!. |
