I've talked to the owner of 2point5 and he's willing to give us BMW guys a group discount on his integrated ipod cradle. The ipod crade will replace the ashtray in the car and also include OEM BMW original interface. Of course it will charge your ipod as well.

It will support 30gb videos and also nanos.

The projected group buy rate with BMW interface ($299 retail) will be $359-$369 shipped. I need at least 15 people to be able to get it at this price. Normally its $399.

Install is tedious and requires minor drilling for wires. Took me 4 hours first try. Probably 2 hours now since I know what I'm doing. If you are in the SoCal area, I will install it for you... this way you don't have to pay $200+ at BMW just for labor.

2point5 Dock + ipod interface Full Install: $95
Just the ipod interface install: $50

So Mike does this just tap into the aux line or does it need hard wire to HU? This may be a great thing. If you can get more peeps I am down for one.

I already have the ipod interface? How about just the dock separately?

If you can disconnect the cable that leads up to your ipod, I'm sure he can do it. You'll just mail him the cable. I think that'll cost 50-75.

He basically produces the dock and seals the connector to the dock.

Check out his website. http://www.2point5.com/

It includes the BMW Ipod interface so you can see your playlist on iDrive. It does not use aux line but an ipod connector.

I just talked to the dealer about IPOD integration in my 2004 525i. Dealer wants $350 installed. If this is the same deal except it's mounted where the ashtray is, I'm in. Mike, I'm in So Ca, if this is the case, and I just need to go to the dealer to update the IDrive to recognize the IPOD, what will you charge to help install it. You can PM me if you want. Thanks.

Install will be 95 like I posted. When you service the car, just have them update the software because you think its "laggy" and they will do it for free. That's what I did.

The dock is sorta of a pita to install. You have to remove all the wood trim and the climate control buttons. If you want to upgrade the dash wood, nows ur chance!

Mike-Let me get this straight, you can help install it for $95 and then I just take it to the dealer and tell them the IDrive is lagging. They will do a simple update and it will automatically recognize the IPOD?

If that's the case add me to the list. I'm in.

Yea, sometimes you might be lucky and your software is already ipod ready. I just had them update my software (free) and I was on my way.

$359-$369 for the dock and ipod interface + $95 install. Once the price is finalize, I need a $25 refundable deposit so your name is on the list. Once I collect 15 people, you will send your money directly to Randy and you'll get your deposit back.

Why the need for hte docking station? there is no need to view the screen since the Idrive handles that. Why not elave it in the glove box?seems like a waste of $$$$. what are the benefits of this other than the glove box?
