Group Buy OEM M5 / M6 mirrors
#171
So guys,
received my parcel today ole ole ole. Here some pics:
A small but expensive package
nicely packed - the glasses themselves were protected with a soft clothe
the mirror themsleves protected through a plastic foil
One can see - EC mirrors (so it is OEM)
Taking the mirror out:
Paintjob well done - painted all the way inside and not only outside!!
The cables to the mirror (i assume for either EC & heating)
Produced by BMW/Magma - OEM
My car is only arriving next week, so I will only do the retrofit next week...

Thanks 530da, I'm not concerned about the shipping charge since you already told us it would cost $120 US for shipping to Canada or the US. I'm concerned about the duty charge and customs brokerage charge since this is an imported item. Have you shipped any to Canada or US before? If not I can just wait to see when someone in Canada or US gets the item to confirm how much duty or brokerage has been added.

+1 here!
530da,
I'm +1 on the Customs brokerage and duty fees. Can you find out these information because Canada and US has import classifications and it must fall under the right one to avoid any Customs hold. On top of that we need to know what the Customs Duty fee would cost because if there is a huge overage then it would not be worth our time because it might be cheaper for us to get from local, which has a smaller fee integrated in the overall cost due to high volume shipments. If you get this to a perfect science, I'm sure that you would get more US and Canada customers. Please advise...

- for half of the mods you guys do in the US, the parts come from taiwan/hk: noone here complains about any problems with custom, or?
- let us assume 530dA declares the parcel as a gift - would you still have to pay taxes?
- even if you guys have to pay tax, let us assume the box is valued at 500 EUR, about 800 USD. Let us assume you guys need to pay 20% tax (that is extreme), then it is an 160 USD
What do you guys think?

i stayed in Canada for 14 years and always have the same problem with the tax thingy when it comes to receive parcel,
but for this price/deal even with having to pay the tax, i guess it still worth it..

My advice is that you call your local UPS office and ask them about this... they do this on daily basis and should have accurate information.
You can also hold them responsible about this information since the package will be sent with them

be careful about the price declaration. The shipment is insured and therefore you have to declare the correct amount to avoid any risks!!
