As one who installed the lights myself and who has about 30+ years in audio and video work, I find it difficult to understand how the AIB units can affect FM signal reception.
I am NOT impugning the experience and motives of those thinking otherwise, but there is no identifiable component in the lamp + ballast assembly that could influence the FM spectrum. Relatively low voltage and lower current DC passing through a resistive circuit in series with a lamp doesn't provided the basis for interference.
The lamp is similar to other OEM bulbs used and installed by BMW. There are no changes affecting the grounding. And the sensitive, "on alert to the slightest disturbance" electronics either aren't affected or are affected at a small level below the detection threshold. I have had no problems with mine, especially concerning changes in FM (or AM) reception.
Again - not arguing, here. Just suggesting that if people are interested in the AIB's, then I'd say go for it.

I'm having my dealer mount and install my new wheels (style 135m) and tires (Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3's) and I gave them my Angelibrights to install today and they just called me and said that the entire front bumper has to come off. I gave them instructions over the phone and also sent them the install instructions from the post and they seemed speechless. Told them that I would do it myself if they haven't changed a bulb before. Just wondering what it takes to be a BMW mechanic nowadays.....if they can't change a bulb in Connecticut we are all in trouble. The moral is when you want something done right do it yourself.
Did you get the AIBs put in? If so, how are they?

My Ride: '07 550i (5.4.06 pickup in Munchen)
'01 740i (on the block)
'03 325i (wife's)
'02 330i (retired and missed)
'93 325is (the one that started it all)
Installed the angel ibrights. After figuring out the "wiggle the housing" technique, it was pretty easy to do the install on both sides. I didn't even bother trying to do it without removing the headlights, as my hands surely would not fit.
The only complication I had was with getting one of the bolts on the driver side back into place. Other than that, pretty straightforward (thanks, Chi-Town Racing!).
Although I have only checked during daylight, there is no visible difference in brightness between the two sides. I'll take another look at night.
Haven't had a chance to test the FM interference issue yet.
Thanks, jiio - for your persistence; Dave - for your professionalism.
PEACE
