Sad news this weekend on a death at a BMW CCA club race in New Hampshire - see url.

- Sean
I was there on Saturday after the accident. It was my first event, and I didn't know anyone there.
I went to the drivers meeting to meet the instructor and get a feel for people who were there. There was a very emotional announcement of the accident on friday and the subsequent passing of the driver. It was clear that it had really hit everyone who knew him very hard. The organizers had asked the family if they wanted them to cancel the rest of the weekend sessions. But they did not want that to be done.
They held a special tribute to the lost driver by having the club racers drive the track backwards before their race. It was a very respectful.

Besides rebates, a great magazine, and club racing, you also get to attend cool events. This Sunday, I am going to attend a club organized dinner with the M-Sport Manager of BMW, for North America. He will be speaking on the M5, M6, upcoming M3, and the M Program History and future.

One thing I am going to ask him, point blank, whether in the bathroom, after or before the dinner, or during the Q & A, I hope we have one, is why BMW North America will not offer the M-Sport Package on the e60 as a factory option. I would have done this if offered from the factory. Maybe I can get a straight answer.

I know many on this board would like to know...

Regards, Mike.

I wish I had known about this last year. I just put a deposit on a 528i. Oh well, next time.

I've been a member of the BMWCCA and the BMWCCA-LA (Los Angeles Chapter) for nearly 13 years now and I have received several checks from BMW NA from the purchase of my new BMW's. Its true, you must be a member for at least one continuous year and cannot get more than 1 rebate in a 12 month period. But as I see it, were GOING to buy these cars anyway, and the club has its perks, a great magazine every month (and another one from the LA Chapter too), discounts at the dealer on parts, discounts at some aftermarket tuners also, and for those going to the LA Auto show, you can get into the BMW lounge area just by flashing your membership card too! All in all worth many times over the $40 a year for membership. As a matter of fact, I'm currently waiting for my $1000 check on my wifes new 2008 X5 as we speak, like I said, we were going to buy it anyway, so.......

What is the BMW Car Club of America (BMW CCA)?

The BMW Car Club of America is an organization that all BMW owners should be members of! Members get discounts on parts and supplies, a subscription to Roundel magazine, an excellent rebate program if you purchase a new or used BMW, local meetings with other BMW enthusiasts and many other things! A $1000 rebate is offered to members who purchase a new E60 5 series. It's well worth becoming a member for the Roundel subscription alone and best of all membership is only $40 per year! See www.bmwcca.org for more details.

How much is the discount on parts and services? Is it a flat % discount rate?

Does anyone know the rebate amount for buying a CPO car?

To answer your first, just call BMW of Newport (Rhode Island). Ask for Garry Romani, Parts Manager. Mention you are a member on here and you will get 25% off and pay no tax (unless you live in RI). His discount is cheaper than that of the BMWCCA.

To answer your second question, it's $500. New is $1,000 for most vehicles. Some are cheaper, like the X3. I believe the X3 is now a $500 rebate, new.
