I have burned 2 MP3 CDs, both with identical settings as Lomag described (most EXCELLENT!). The first had about 80 songs, took up about 350 MB and works great.

The second has about 130 songs, uses almost the entire CD and is murder on the I drive system. When I insert the disk in the in dash player, the I drive just constantly reboots...I get the BMW screen, then it goes blank for 20 seconds and then it shows the BMW screen again...repeat until I eject the disk. It completely freezes the I drive.

Anyone have any ideas? Is there a limit to the number of songs or an upper limit to the data on a single CD-R?

I don't think we've found an actual limit to the amount of songs. (cobradav, help me refresh my memory here...)

It's possible that something didn't burn properly on the second disc. Maybe you can try burning it again? (at the slowest burn rate possible)

The "bad" disk works great on my home DVD/CD-R player and was burned at 8x, the same as the first. I just didn't understand the reboot response from the I drive.

I tried to burn a MP3 cd for the first tiem and I followed everything Lomag said but the song still came out random. I numbered it (01,02,03) I even tried numbering it 001, 002 but when I played it in my car it said " 001 66 Utada Hikaru, 002 65 Utada Hikaru " So did I do something wrong or the MY07 MP3 player is different? Can anyone help me please.. Also I saw that the car has a few Directory options does that mean we can make different folders?

Yep, folders are possible, but you need to limit them to 8 char - otherwise the CD won't play

Not true. Many of us have folders that are longer than 8 characters and things display and play just fine. You really need to follow the burning directions precisely or it won't work...

I have tried all the tips for burning mp3 cd's, but if I am lucky, the radio will play 10-20 seconds of a track before giving me a message saying 'track/file cannot be read.'
After that, no more tracks will play on the disc and then the radio might or might not change its message to 'cannot read medium'.

Has anybody had similar problems and solved them? Thanks for any assistance...

What kind (and brand) of discs are you using? It sounds like maybe you're having a problem on the burning side...

I have tried Verbatim and ePro, which both work fine for audio. I took the car to my dealer yesterday and they told me that the files have to be 128kbps, which didn't work either. The weird thing is that when they start playing, I get the ID tag display and it may play for up to 90 seconds before the error appears and the track that's playing just fades out.
