My Ride: 2006 BMW 550i Extremely clean and fast.
Default Steering Malfunction problem

I have a 2006 BMW 550i and this morning as i was driving a Driving malfunction alert came up on my dash and on my screen, and when i went to pull over and turned the car off i noticed the steering wheel was off to the left when i restarted the car like if my alignment was off. I saw a video on how to reset it on you tube and i followed the steps and drove the car for a few blocks and the light and alert turned off and thought the problem was fixed but when i went to go drive it a few minutes ago the alert came back but the steering wheel is straight again. Does anyone know what else i could do to fix this problem?

My Ride: '09 535i
Default Steering malfunction alert

I brought my '09 535i into a shop to have some work done on the struts and front suspension. The car ran fine afterwards, but within a week a I got the notice both on my dash and on my display screen. I've never had an issue with my steering before, but after getting work done on my car I get a notice out of nowhere. There were no issues with the steering/handling, which made me suspicious. Do you think a sensor was accidentally messed with which then caused the alert? Or do you think it was just bad timing? Or, did the shop do it on purpose?
Either way I'm going to put in steering fluid, but I am suspicious of the shop and if they triggered something purposefully to try and get me to return for more business, i.e. more $.
I'd really appreciate your opinion. Thanks!
