FWIW: This is an old thread but it should be noted that the Daytime running lights can now be enabled/disabled via the iDrive menu.

Gene - great info to have...is this true of US models too?

Yes, on the US LCI cars, you can now enable/disable DRLs by yourself. Not sure if Canada cars can do it though -- I think it's the law there to use DRLs so the feature may be disabled there...

Can you program the car to unlock the doors when placed in park, also can you program the car to fold the mirrors when placed in park?

Sooooo true!! Not to steer off topic...but every time I go into a dealer, I seem to have more of the facts, TSB's, and other info about my cars than the dealers do...have to be careful or they tend to become annoyed (that you actually know more than them about their products) and will not be overly helpful.

In the USA, no and no. In other countries, I can't remember...

That is incorrect. As stated in the first post, you can't control the DRLs through iDrive. This setting (DRLs on or off) can only be adjusted by the dealer.
Rudy,

i know that this was an old post but can the dealer program which lights come on as DRLs? IOW, can the angeleyes be programmed to be the only DRLs?

Not on a 2006 car -- only the LCI cars use the angel eyes as the DRLs...

On my 2004 car, I chose to leave the DRLs off and whenever I wanted to have the angel eyes on by themselves, I just manually turned on the parking lights.
