As like the 3 series models, the 5 series has many different versions to choose from as well. Will take a look at the BMW 5 series models from 2008. In 2008 the BMW 528i had a 3.0-litre, 230 horsepower engine. The 535i had a 3.0-litre, 300 horsepower engine and both these models are all- wheel drive. The 550i is the fastest out of all of them, it as a V8, 4.8-litre engine. There is also a 5 series with the M package; this is part of BMW's M-series and this vehicle can move. The M-5 looks like any other 5 series except for what's under the hood, it has a 5.0-litre, V10 engine, and produces 500 horsepower.

a) In Europe most 5 series will be sold with diesel engines. People who want a 6 cyl will buy a 530d or the 540d.

b) In the US, the absence of a small 6cyl is in my opinion a marketing mistake. It would have been smarter to make a 2.0L to 2.5L 6cyl Turbo. The 4 cyl is damaging to the prestige of the car.

c) It would have made sense to use the old 6cyl, but the increased weight of the car and higher fuel burn and engine production costs kind of killed that solution. It even looks like BMW will kill the 325 and 330 models worldwide.

d) From a point of view of reliability, a NA engine is simple better than a Turbo. But most people lease those cars for two to four years, then change, so it will be mainly an issue for pre used BMWs.
