I've sat in one of these cars and if I had the cash I'd have bought one on the spot. I simply love the way the car looks and the seating position is heaven for me (I have a tough time getting in and out of cars due to frequent back problems).

Now granted the first car I bought from a dealership was a 2001 Hyundai Elantra GT (hatchback) and I loved the styling on that as well.

Maybe I just have bad taste, but is there anyone else out there that loves the 5 GT?

You certainly in the minority. But the "GT" is an alternative to an SAV / SUV that is a turn-off for many. For me, personally, the poor outward visibility is a big negative.

You're not the only one but it'd be difficult to find another in here.

wagons both look cooler and are far more versatile. regardless of the styling though, the GT is pretty much useless for me. as for styling, sedans or coupes look much better, so do suv's. the GT is just one awful design that i think only looks remotely interesting because it's different, but simply different does not make for better or worthwhile. hell, the AMC Pacer looked more interesting than this GT.

now, i also like a lot of hatchback styled vehicles but the proportions are important and this bmg GT is just out of whack.

as for seating position, how can it be much different from a new 5 or 6? do you mean entry height/ease, or interior ergonomics?

The 6 coupe is a beautiful thing though, balanced visually and just the right massing for the wheelbase.

Hmm.. I am with the OP. The 5GT has slowly grown on me. My dealer had a shuttle service for which they used to use the 5GT and it was damn impressive in terms of the comfort, drive, space, etc. Might be my next car in a year or two - lets see.

I agree with jwestpro, wagons are better. Better looking, better fuel economy, just as comfortable. Too bad they won't bring the F11 stateside yet.
