Default Reflash? Non-Dinan worth the risk?

Just leased a 2014 550xi and I am looking for some cheap additional power since I don't own the car. I was looking at the Dinan stage 1 tuning, but I really don't want to spend $2500-3000 on a leased car.

I found a Burger Tuning equivalent for $599. I am sure the tunes are roughly the same, so isolating the performance gains, the only concern is warranty. Dinan provides a warranty equal to the manufacturer powertrian warranty that is void after the tune.

Burger clearly declares the manufacturer warranty is void. I guess my question is, is it worth it for the extra $2k for peace of mind? or if there is a repair issue, will simply removing the tune (which I understand is a plug and play harness) prevent BMW from discovering the previous tune?

Anyone have any experience with Burger Tuning (my search uncovered mostly positives) on the F10?

Thanks in advance

I did some more digging and found a stage 2 kit from the same tuner which claims this version is undetectable:

"The BMS Stage 2 Tuner for the N63/N63tu is a piggy back system, which means it is untraceable by scan tools, so no need to stress about the BMS N63/N63tu Stage 2 Tuner voiding your warranty."

"Invisible to BMW tuning detection software"

Any credence in this?

The above was copied from BMS N63/N63tu Stage 2 JB4 Tuner for 2011+ BMW V8 550i

With the insane turn out of the original N54 JB4, it was clear that BMS had to take it to a whole new level with BMW's new N63/N63tu engine. So for all you new N63/N63tu owners out there Burger Motorsports has finally come out with the infamous BMS N63/N63tu Stage 2 JB4 Tuner for the new V8 biturbo engines that are in the 550i, 650i and 750i. From the factory all of these BMW's come very detuned, and far from its full potential. The BMS Stage 2 Tuner for the N63/N63tu is a piggy back system, which means it is untraceable by scan tools, so no need to stress about the BMS N63/N63tu Stage 2 Tuner voiding your warranty. The BMS N63/N63tu Stage 2 Tuner is simple, it plugs into the vehicle's computer and controls the amount of boost. Not only giving you unheard of horsepower and torque gains but also better throttle response and an overall better sports car feel. Whether your vehicle is stock or fully modified, the Stage 2 Tuner will adjust to the modification and make the most out of them. All this and more makes the BMS N63/N63tu Stage 2 Tuner the #1 software choice for the fastest 5 series and 6 series in the world. When it comes to choosing the best performance software for your 550i, 650i and 750i, only settle for the best with the BMS N63/N63tu Stage 1 or 2 Tuner.

What makes the JB4 Stage 2 better then the Stage 1 JB3?
The upgrade to the stage 2 JB4 is very similar for the upgrade in the Stage 2 N54 JB4 tuner with several new features such as hand controls on the steering wheel, more power and tuning characteristics and more!

The JB4 features a simple plug and play installation harness and built in deletion of hidden "tuner detection" codes; compatible with all ECU versions. The N63/N63tu JB4 features 5x the processing power, 2x the memory, more robust signal conditioning, and integrated CANbus. Our new CANbus module allows the JB4 to communicate with your vehicle like never before. New features include code reading/deleting, optional in dash boost, timing, air/fuel, shift light, and IAT gauges, autotuning, a buttery smooth new CANbus based integrated boost control system, map switching on the fly via steering wheel controls, hot/cold oil temperature protection, progressive methanol integration, water pump remapping, gear dependent boost control/traction assist, and much more to come with free firmware updates uploaded using a windows laptop (or mac w/ windows emulator) and BMS USB cable.

In addition to our performance mapping the JB4 features several "on the fly" user selectable maps including a 100% stock bypass map, a 4500rpm rev limited valet mode, a fuel economy map, a progressive methanol map, a race gas map, and for those interested an rpm by rpm user adjustable map. And unlike other flash and piggyback tunes that charge per the map and lock to your VIN the JB4 is 100% unlocked. Meaning you get access to every new feature we release free of charge and when your lease is up will be able to resell the JB4 without penalty.

Benefits
Gain over 40whp and 60wtq with a stock BMW on pump gas
Significantly reduces the N63/N63tu single turbo lag
Adapts to modifications (downpipes, intercooler, intakes, 100 octane, etc.)
Invisible to BMW tuning detection software
Installs within 30 minutes
Instant power with easy Plug & Play installation.
Free firmware updates with the BMS USB Cable!
