Caliper painting
hello everyone,
before i start this thread let me add ive gone through a few pages of search generated threads and still have some questions.. so for those of you who have done this i ask for your help and opinion.. I see a lot of people using a kit which includes a brush on style applicator. -Does this method leave streaks in the paint on the caliper? i know people have said it is very thin, goes on nice and smooth but i want them to come out very well. -I have full capability of spraying them with automotive paint and a clearcoat.. so a 2 stage spray like you would on a vehicle. should i do this? I plan to make some bmw logo decals on photoshop for the calipers so a clear will be used. However in order to keep the decals in place and looking new clear of some sort should be used. -Is the clearcoat a high temp too? why do we stress high temp caliper paint (i get they get hot lol) if they are going to be cleared with a regular clear coat whether its out of a rattle can or out of a spray gun? I dont mind taking the caliper off and taking the pads out in order to spray them if this is a better option for a smoother paint finish before clear, im just not sure if were using a brush applicator because were to lazy to take apart a cliper.. Any help you can throw my way would be appreciated! |
this was supposed to be posted in the e60 section.. (sorry its late!)
Mods; if this could be moved into the e60 parts accessories and mods section. I supposed it really doesnt matter.. e60 section might have more traffic.:D |
