Nope... The exchange rate was correct and the official rate at the time the post was made.

Currently it would be 189.879 USD, based on the current exchange rate, right now...

use google translate and build your 550i on the german website and you will see just how much more europeans are paying for their BMWs. even before the exchange rate - germans pay a higher EURO amount than we pay in dollars!

example: the base 550i starts at EUR 70,800 (~$96k), for us it starts at $61,700. and i don't know if "base" even means the same thing for F10s - for the E60s, the european stereo system was below our base stereos (our base stereo was their "level 1" upgrade, the logic 7 was two upgrades!) i don't know if it's still like that for these cars. of course, the euro bmws also have the "individual options" but i DIDN'T choose them when i got to a loaded 550i price of EUR 97,500 (more than $130k) vs $89,625 fully loaded for the us spec.

with the german m5 starting ~EUR 102k, i'm expecting the us price to start at about $90-95k.

all i can say is, VAT sucks! and it's worrisome that they're talking about bringing it over here.

Yes unfortunately BMW prices their vehicles in a biased manner. The BMW as well as the VAG has a different accounting method when determining end price. The TCP of these vehicles is not what one may think.
