Saw that but I'm not sure I believe it... Looking at this thread, the picture of the shift knob looks an awful lot like the DCT in my M3 and not like a typical auto shifter. Just my opinion!

Seems you're right, that pic is quite clear.

Unless they put an DCT shifter + console on top of the modified 8-speed they mentioned...?

They updated it:

"Update: A source close to the brand told BMWBLOG that the rumors around an M5 with automatic transmission only are unfounded and the report is pure speculation at the moment."

the auto will be faster than a manual. some people are just stuck in the past...

Given that now even most supercar manufacturers have abandoned the manual for the SMG/DCT, it would not surprise me if BMW did not offer a manual for the F10 M5. But I sure hope that it does.

However, they are often miss quoted as automatics because they do have an auto mode, and no clutch pedal.

I miss rowing gears, but the DCT is a great transmission.
