i was looking at volks wheels, and find out they are Reverse Rim, did some search on google, didnt find much info
does anyone know what is the difference between Reverse Rim and regular rim? and any advantage or disadvantage of Reverse Rim? thanks |
I think reverse wheels are wheels with step lip. I might be wrong. Good luck.

Hi
Reverse Lip http://dpe-wheels.com/news/spc16b.jpg Step Lip http://dpe-wheels.com/news/3sm.jpg It's called a reverse lip because you're taking a step lip wheel and reversing it. If you look closely at the reverse lip picture, the back of the wheel looks like a step lip. When you have a step lip, let's say 20", you use a 19" face which makes the wheel lighter than a 20" reverse lip wheel because a 20" reverse lip wheel uses a 20" face. Does that make sense? i understand step lip, but the pic for reverse lip looks like flat lip, mounting on the car for reverse lip and non reverse lip are same? |
Yes flat lip is synonymous with reverse lip. It's called a reverse lip because you're reversing a step lip.
Mounting is the same. :) BTW, why not get some DPEs? They will fit a lot better than Volks plus DPEs are forged. Michael Acute Performance

please let me know if i am wrong from my understanding regular lip = flat lip (inner and outer) step lip = step lip outer but flat inner reverse lip = flat outer but step inner and step lip normally lighter than regular wheels due to smaller face |
inner doesn't matter, you're making this more complicated than it is. :)
go look at your OE BMW wheel, i'm pretty sure the inner is step too. that's just how wheels are built. stop over thinking this! :P michael acute performance
