yes, as it's been discussed a few times in various threads...it's also in the official press release, did you get a chance to read that? perhaps you missed it...

"...The new 5 Series will be offered in the United States with a choice of three gasoline engines. At its introduction, the new 5 Series will be available as a 535i and 550i. The 528i and xDrive all-wheel drive variants of all three models will arrive later in the year...."

I would expect the F10 550 xi to be a real porker. The RWD version already weighs 4200 pounds. With Xi, the weight could go to 4400 -- way too much for a performance sedan. I wish that on this front, BMW would take a page out of Jaguar's book and make lighter cars.
I'm sure the F10 550 xi will be very fast and have plenty of grip. I just hate to see the gradual transformation of the 5 Series from a nimble performance sedan into a tank.

Yeah I cant wait for that. I love the feel of having an x drive car and now I will get the power too! That is the one I will be ordering. I think LOL. I have really had my eyes on the x6 m though so we will see.

The question for me is what options will you *not* be able to get in the 550xi.

No xDrive for me. I once got a 530xi as a loaner, and hated it. I tried some of the maneuvers I routinely do, and actually felt unsafe due to body roll/instability. For me, it's all about the solid handling and balance of Sport Pkg w/ARS.

I never understood why BMW never fitted ARS to the xi - it may well be that there's a technical reason that prevents it, but BMW is missing out on a lot of revenue by not offering a proper sport package on the xi (over and above the current xi sport package, which is essentially cosmetic). An xi with ARS would be a tremendous combination.
