F10 Discussion Anything and everything to do with the F10 5 Series. The F10 made it's debut in 2010 as a MY2011.

What, if any changes have been made on 2013 5s since initial production date?

Question What, if any changes have been made on 2013 5s since initial production date?

I'm considering a new 2013 535 because it's equipped with the options I want most. It's been very puzzling that the multi-contour seats, having been removed from the M-Sport
package, are not being ordered on many cars ... and excluding white or black cars (Not a color I'm interested in) my Dealer SA has found them on 24 - TWENTY-FOUR - 535 xDrive sedans in the Eastern USA!!

This one is close by but has a July 2012 production date - probably one of the first of the new 5s to come off the line. Typically any number of software updates are pushed out so one of my first "requirements" is that the car be brought up-to-date. My second is that a new battery (with a current manufacturer date) be installed. I've never seen a "new" undriven BMW where the battery lived for 6 months.

But, I thought I remember some technical things that were changed recently - maybe with BMW Apps or connectivity to Android vs iPhone??

Anyone in the know out there??

2013 models have the new Nav:

BMW 3 Series Touring : Navigation system Professional (<link)

• Streamlined radio/media menu structure
• Improved navigation submenu structure
• Advanced Real-Time Traffic Information
• Weather information in navigation map
• POI enrichment*
• GoogleTM autocomplete*
* requires BMW Assist Convenience Plan.

BMW apps should be the same for the iphone between both MY's, not sure if android has been included for the 2013 model....

I'm well aware of the "model year" changes - yes, this is a 2013 with a JULY 2012 production date. The specific reason I'm asking (as one example) is that my "model year 2007" with a July 2006 production date cannot receive Google Maps via BMW Assist. That feature / enhancement was possible only on September 2006 or later production date Model Year 2007 e60s!

The devil is in the details!

With a July '12 production date you should have the new NAV...

As for other enhancements/software changes related to the iPhone/Android, that was done on my M3 via a file downloaded from the BMW website. Put it on a USB stick and the car updates itself...

From a BMW release
All Models
Please note the following changes applying to all MY13 July production models:

- The “snowflake” button for air conditioning will be changed to “A/C”
- The “CD” button on the iDrive controller will be changed to “Media”
- xDrive badge will be re-located from the front fender to the left side of the rear trunk lid for all Sedans, Coupes, and Convertibles.

Navigation system updates (609)

Starting as of July 2012 production, the next generation Navigation Professional system (609) will be available on the 5 Series Sedan, 5 Series Gran Turismo, 7 Series Sedan and ActiveHybrid 3. This new system offers faster processing and an enhanced design over the current system and incorporates several great new features:
• Streamlined radio/media menu structure
• Improved navigation submenu structure
• Advanced Real-Time Traffic Information
• Weather information in navigation map
• POI enrichment*
• GoogleTM autocomplete*
* requires BMW Assist Convenience Plan.

Thanks KSCARROL - the build sheet shows: S609A S609A - Navigation system Professional and and also S6WAA - Instrument panel with extended scope. I presume this is the "new" configurable instrument panel display.

Thanks for the other intel - very helpful. Esp the USB updateable features!

Yes, the options/pricing guide shows the same, 6WA is the "Instrument cluster with extended contents" Not exactly sure what that entails...

Gene, if you are referencing my post, the updates that can be done (and I did it) using the USB stick are related to the audio system, particularly Bluetooth connectivity. Not NAV...
