Thumbs up

Sorry if this has been asked but do we already know which engines will be available in the US for the new 5 series? I thought they were doing away with the non-turbo motors like X6 and 5GT but now I'm thinking that's not right? Thanks for any insight.

As a follow-on question, do we know which transmissions will be offered in the US?

The offcial media release is supposed to be 11/23..so just a few more days and we will know...talks around other forums and online media sources have stated the engine specs for the F10 will be the same if not very similar to the 5GT...

so that would imply an F10 550 with a TT V8

*nice to see you posting here My535i..how's that jb3/meth set-up treating you...did you trade up your meth set up for a BMS meth set-up?

I definitely won't have any respect for BMW if they don't offer a six withe a stick (turbo is good, as long as there are no HPFP and similar-type issues, btw)

BTW is the N55 engine going into the GT only or it is replacing the N54 entirely?

Yeah, I just saw in another thread the 11/23 date...will be interesting to see what they say.

I am still running my ERL Aquamist kit it is about 11+ years old but still works great...car is running VERY hard.

I understood that the N55 will replace N54 but I am not sure.

I have read that as well in the car mags. The reported cause for the change is emissions. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this new wave of turbo engines from BMW is free of HPFP issues.

I HOPE this won't come back to haunt me (knocks on wood) but I have had 20,000 miles of 100% trouble free operation...almost every single mile has been with tune....first JB1 + hot pill and then JB3...

I hope the N55 has at least the same tuning headroom as N54....more headroom would be great!!!! LESS headroom would be sad

Personally I would like to see them eliminate the non-turbo motor (not because I don't think it's a great motor) because it will then force the 535i to be the "entry level" 5 series and would make them have to offer great lease and purchase deals since no "lower" model would exist.

The model lineup will still be the same, at least for the first year:
528
535
550
...with the new N55 replacing the N54 and the TTV8 replacing the normally aspirated V8.

My source tells me that the 528 will be the last model to surface next year (July)...
so I'm wondering if BMW has something up their sleeve for the base engine?

Car and Driver reports that BMW may not offer a manual transmission in the F10 in the US. Yikes! They report that the F10 M5 will have a 7 speed DCT transmission and that it will have a TTV8 tuned to about 600 bhp. Think of what that will be tunable to.
