Turning ON Halos as Daytime Running Lights
I see all F10's on the road with the Halos as daytime running lights. I just bought a used 2011 528i and my daytime running lights are the traditional halogen bulb. The halos come on with the xenon lights on. In the settings menu it only lets me turn the daytime running lights on or off. How do I make the halos the daytime running light like all the other F10s. Is it a coding thing?

Did you have an older E60 before?
I thought I have talked to you previously. Anyway, it sounds like you actually have halogen headlights and not xenon, that's why our DRL isn't the angel eyes. Since your car is equipped with LM2, it can be coded so that your DRL is the angel eyes. However, it'll be so pitiful that you probably would just leave it off -- even if you put in a brighter bulb in there. |

Are the xenon lights the ones with the projector housing? The halos come on when I unlock the car, I believe their called welcome lights? |

No you don't. LCI halogens have projector for halogen lights, on the F10s as well.

They are not, not anymore. After the initial year of F10's, the very next year (2012), all F10s in US are equipped with xenons only.

Yes the angel eyes on halogens can be coded to be DRLs. They are not as bright as Xenons, but it can be done. Check out the coding forums such as bimmer fest for details

Hey guys..
reading the threat about day time running lights and having angel eyes on. I have an 05 530i.. and usually turn light switch once to the left for the angel eyes to appear while i drive. Is there a programming to have the angel eyes turn on automatically and as i press to open door locks too like welcome lights? without me having to press any switches? Is this a coding option? PS. I'm new at all this and just bought the car few months ago. |
