Well, today I bit the bullet and ordered the F10 550x Drive. Wanting the 501 bhp and 580 foot pounds of torque, I put the Dinan Stage 2 tune in the order. It is a special order and will be built for me.

Here are the specs:

1. M Sport Package

2. Imperial Blue exterior

3. Cinnamon leather interior

4. Active Roll Stabilization

5. Sport Automatic Transmission

6. Cold Weather Package

7. Premium Sound

8. Side and Top View Cameras

I skipped HUD, ventilated seats, blind spot detector/land departure warning, active cruise control, comfort access and ceramic controls. I had to save costs somewhere and I didn't miss those options on my E60.

I also insisted as a written condition of the deal that the car would not come with the problem-ridden Goodyear run flats which are reported to have severe problems with bubbling. The dealer agreed to that.

I will take delivery of the car by the end of February.

I thought seriously about the Infiniti M56 Sport but didn't want to deal with its very harsh ride. I experienced that in my M45 Sport and I don't need to feel every bump and pebble in the road down my spine. And it was impossible to resist the power and torque that comes with the Dinan Stage 2 tune.

That all being said, I will miss my E60 dearly. I have driven the F10 550 and while I love the power, it does lack the nimbleness and steering feel of my E60 550. But time marches only and it is time to get a new ride.

Thanks John. Review won't be up until March. No question based on my test drive that BMW appears to be moving more in the Mercedes direction -- more lux and more power but less sport. I am hoping that the massive added power from the Dinan Stage 2 tune restores some of the fun. But it still won't take the big time weight gain over the E60 away. Also, the engine sound in the F10 550 cannot compare to the NA V8 in the E60 550. But the F10 with the Dinan tune should be dramatically faster than my E60.

Which trim did you order? I really like the aluminum hexagon one they have for M Sport, but I know it's not quite your style Oh yeah, Congrats!

Light wood. I am not a fan of aluminum. I like the lux feel of wood trim. Always have.
