Hi All
I planned to specify sun protection glass on my new order but after some research have found I can save e300 if I get an aftermarket tint. Don't know too much aabout this area so wondered if any forum members have good/bad experiences of aftermarket tints. Can the film be scratched fromm the inside. There is a long established firm in Dublin offering to tint rear side and rear screen for e189 with a lifetime guarantee??
Also, have any members taken delivery of a titamium silver F10. I'm torn between this and Space Grey both with shadowline. I've seen some space greys on the road and they look great. I always liked the titamium silver e60 with shadowline (especially the MSport) but need to see an F10 in the flesh in this colour to make up my mind. Haven't seen qany F10s in Ireland yet with shadowline. Would love to hear feedback from any membver with a tit.sil. car.

In the middle east, those tints are very effective since temperature often reach 50C.
There are two famous firms that provide this service : V-Kool and SolarGuard. My father has SolarGuard on his E60 and my friend has V-Kkool on his RRS. Both showed good difference before and after tint. When leaving the car in the sun for 4-5 hours, internal temperature seems to remain cool due to previous A/C being turned on by sun-blocking external sun-rays.
And yes, both have lifetime warrantee. My friend's RRS rear window got scratched and the the side passenger started pealing off ( inside window was being cleaned with alcohol based detergent). Both were replaced on the spot, no questions asked.
So yes, I say it is a very good investment.

Had factory tint on a VW Touran from new and an aftermarket tint on an E46 touring. Would say the factory tint wins hands down in terms of quality and still looked fresh at 4 years old when it was sold. Aftermarket tint never really stood up to close inspection but perhaps I'm just picky!

Do you mean UV-blocking glass or tinted ? those are 2 different things. I have the UV-blocking glass and I love it ! I don't like the tinted glass at all so this is a neat solution

The UK price list for optional sun protection glass shows £290 (approx. ?350).Got to be better than stick-on film.
