F10 Discussion Anything and everything to do with the F10 5 Series. The F10 made it's debut in 2010 as a MY2011.

So I finally saw the F10 in person...

The SA did point out that F10 is one inch longer than the E60 but they stretched the wheel base by three inches. I think that longer wheel base contributes to my perception that the F10 is bigger. I had the SA fire up the 550 while I stood behind the car, wanting to hear the exhaust. It was disappointing frankly. He rev'd the engine and I could hear the engine under the hood but the exhaust note was almost non-existent! I love the sound of my 550 and the M3 sounds even sweeter.
I'm having a tough time identifying the difference in the new 7 & 5- they look a lot a like. I like the E60 much better, too.

IMO, being able to tell the differences between the f10 and f01 is like being able to tell the differences between a pre lci and lci e60, differences are subtle, yet noticeable once made award of them...

My Ride: 2004 545i - Bone stock... help!
Default

A guy in my building has an F10 so I see it quite often in the parking lot. It's nice... I guess. I can't really condemn it though because in truth, the bone stock standard E60 is pretty dull to me too. It's once a body kit, and some wheels, and a drop get put on, does it really start coming alive for me. Maybe I'm crazy, but I'm still holding out for the F10's to come into their own. (according to my aesthetic at least)

I'm aiming on a Alpina B5 Bi-turbo....

E60 forever!
Saw a white one today on the LIE, I was completely underwhelmed. I don't like that I couldn't tell whether it was a seven, three or 5. I'm so confused as to what my next car will be. Won't buy the M3, I look silly getting in and out of a 335 as it is. I really want a Panamera, but I won't "settle" for the regular one and my wife would probably kill me in my sleep if I came home with the turbo. I can't really see myself in a benz. Might force me into an M truck or maybe an M6

Well, it moved me enough to get one! I've owned 4 other 5 series in the last 10 years and to me, the F10 is the best one so far.

However, I totally understand the sentiment a lot of you have. Whenever a newly designed model is introduced, you can get a whole range of reaction. I remember when I first got my 'ol 545i, the reaction from the previous-gen. crowd from Roadfly was absolutely vicious. I was slammed for months on end. It's funny looking back but guys were so enraged at Chris Bangle for ruining their favorite car that there were talks of picketing local BMW dealers and boycotting BMW altogether! My how times have changed! Guys who swore to never even stand 10 ft from an E60 now love it like it's the last great BMW! I think it's going to be the same way with the F10....it'll just take time. The automotive world is constantly changing and BMW had to change direction with the 5 series......some people (like me) love it and others don't. But in the end, when it's all said and done, I strongly believe the F10 will be another success in the storied history of the 5 series.

i was one of those roadfly guys that was bashing bangle when the e60 first came out. then after a couple of years it grew on me and i bought one...and disappeared from roadfly LOL (well except for the M-lounge, that place is still a hoot). who knows maybe the f10 will grow on me too.

enjoy it and drive it in good health.

I think the looks with an M-Sport package and possibly even more after the LCI comes out (which is what made me fall in love with my e60) will grow on me and I will get used to it.

But the one thing I could NEVER get used to are the soft and disconnected driving dynamics. Yuck. Unless they decide to morph the F10 back into the Ultimate Driving Machine for the LCI.
