you're response is not surprising V..
I felt the same way, but as the release was nearing and seeing more pics I started to like the look even more, now that I've seen an f10 in person I'm almost 80% positive that an f10 will be my next BMW to lease at the end of this year....while I agree with most stating it follows the e39 more than the e60, but the e39 is when I fell in love with the 5 series anyway...I am guilty of not liking the e60 at first (that's how I ended up with an S4 prior to my e60), I didn't start liking the e60 until the LCI's were released....like anything else, perhaps it will grown on you....

For me when I saw pics on net, I didn't like it,
But when I saw in person , I liked so much especially the front-end.
May be it will grow on you .

with car design, you either love it and it moves you or it doesnt, and the f10 doesnt move anyone (no pun!)
the real question is, why do you have to want it to grow on you (or anyone) when you can have this.....

My Ride: E90 M3
Model Year: 2011
A business trip has come up so I won't make the Ultimate Driving Event at my dealer in a couple of weeks so I went out today with the wife and drove the F10 550 and the M3 again. I am now firmly getting the E90 M3. The 550 drove extremely well, plenty of power and the dynamic handing package was excellent. But as I noted when I drove the 535, it is almost too smooth if that makes sense. It is clear that BMW is feeling the pressure from Lexus and other high-end models so it has stepped up the luxury in the F10. It is a very nice car, the one I drove had a sticker price north of $81,000! It had all the bells and whistles, HUD, lane departure warning etc. But it felt like I was floating on a cloud, even in Sport mode. My wife jokingly said I see you in this car when your 70! I still want the feel of a sports car and the F10 moves a bit too close to the 7 for my tastes. But it is a very strong ride.
When I finished, I had the 550, a 750 and the M3 parked together. The 550 certainly looked to be just a few inches smaller than the 750 and it looked much bigger than my 550 though I suspect that was just my perception. The SA did point out that F10 is one inch longer than the E60 but they stretched the wheel base by three inches. I think that longer wheel base contributes to my perception that the F10 is bigger. I had the SA fire up the 550 while I stood behind the car, wanting to hear the exhaust. It was disappointing frankly. He rev'd the engine and I could hear the engine under the hood but the exhaust note was almost non-existent! I love the sound of my 550 and the M3 sounds even sweeter.
Who knows, maybe this is part of my mid-life crisis, I'm not ready to float around in a big luxury car! Some day perhaps, just not yet...
