The car really exceeded my expectations. It's probably less sporty looking than the E60, but much more elegant. That may not appeal to everyone, but as I get older and my tastes, er, mature, I'm a big fan.
The details are truly beautiful in person - the front light cluster, the side crease, the door handles, the high-gloss shadowline. All are leaps ahead of the E60. Like others here, I was worried about the gaps between the wheel wells and the tires, but they just look right. Again, more elegant than sporty.
This car's a home run.

My Ride: E90 330i Sport & E46 323Ci
I just got back from this debut at the N.Y. Auto Show.
I'm sorry but, the interior does NOT seem larger than the E60. In fact I felt a bit trapped inside. The feeling I got is that this car is a slightly larger E90, but I could not notice an increase in interior space over the previous model.
Other current owners of the E60 that were present agreed (or at least thought that the interior was the same size), though everyone thought the exterior was quite stunning. And of course, the car is definitely larger on the OUTSIDE.
