Recently purchased a 2011 CPO 535i X-Drive

September 24th was my wife's birthday and my Son called to tell her that he had traded her 2008 535i in on later model car. This particularly ticked me off because I don't like spending that much on something that I hadn't seen. It was not the color I would have picked out, inside or out. He put $1700 of his own money on it for her birthday as a non-refundable deposit so I pretty much had to go along with it.
It is a 2011 535i X-Drive Sedan had a little under 23,000 miles on it. Dark Graphite with an off-white interior. Premium package, Cold weather package, Sport package and M-Package. It is a beautiful car, but still not the color I would have picked out. My wife is crazy about it so that I what matters I guess. I was perfectly satisfied with the E60 535i.
We live in Southern Indiana across the river from Louisville, KY. My Son found the car in North field, IL. One thing that particularly impresses me is the fuel economy. Traveling about 350 miles and cruising along at about 82 MPH it was averaging 30.5 MPG, even with me playing with it, accelerating and passing. I dropped it down and held 71 MPH for a couple hours and noticed it was hanging in at a steady 33 MPG, even with a couple of stops. Because of highway construction I dropped it to a steady 65 MPH and the fuel economy jumped to a steady 34 MPG.
It IS a very sharp car but I am not too impressed with the M style 351 wheels. Our old E60 had M5 wheels on it that I sent to a wheel re-finisher and had them strip the wheels, paint them black, machine face and clear-coat them. They were AWESOME! The 351's just can't measure up. Every time I look at it out of the corner of my eye I imagine white walls. I am thinking about putting the M5 wheels back on it but since it has all-wheel drive and run-flat tires I am having difficulty finding rear tires in 275/35-19 that are all season run-flats. I am not a big fan of run-flats but the ride is excellent. The car has 4 different suspension settings. COMFORT, NORMAL, SPORT, and SPORT-PLUS. No one could ever complain about the ride.
I thought the 08' 535 ran good but this one runs like a Screamin-Banchie. The old one would literally shut down at 5000 RPM and I saw this one approaching the 7000 RPM range in Sport-Plus mode. I was getting an evil eye from my wife so I quit playing with it when I noticed how she was holding on.
