Last month's roundel mentions new F01 7 series model designations:

740i - TT 3.0 I6
750i - TT 4.4 V8

Wouldn't it make more sense if F10 5 series also had these same models (+ 530i) ?

Well, I'm not sure it makes sense to have two different V8 engines 50 hp apart. It would make sense for the enthusiasts, but maybe not for BMW from a commercial point of view. If you look at existing models (X6, 7 series), it appears that the 4.4 TT V8 has replaced the 4.8 V8.

I hope you're right because that makes NO sense...sounds like we will continue to have the same discussions we had about 535 (TT 6) vs 550 (NA V8) with the current lineup...only worse.

I can't wait to see what kind of numbers the TT V8 will offer with even a mild tune!!!

Umm, if that's the post below from Roadfly that you're referring to, its not too recent.
Its actually over 2 years old:

Next Generation F10 5 Series Dimensions

I'm pretty sure that the future 555, 655 & 755 models are going to have more powerful engines than the current N64.
BMW recently registered trademarks for all of those not too long ago.
