I have a feeling this is simply a glitch in the logic of BMW's computer ordering system but get this...

As of last week, if you order the M-Sport Package, you can't order the Sport Automatic Transmission!

This makes absolutely no sense whatsover!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is simply a bug in the ordering system since I can't understand why adding the M-Sport stuff (which is pretty much all cosmetic) would create some technical reason that the SAT couldn't be added.

Does anyone have any insight as to what's going on here? JeffinNJ, do you know anything??

looks like on the BMW UK site you can add SAT with a 550 M sport...so I'm sure it's just a glitch Rudy...*hopefully

I'm still waiting to hear back from my salesperson who contacted his regional guy last week about it. Keep you fingers crossed! Clearly, at least to me, having the SAT is more important than the M-Sport package.

What's funny is that my earlier "problem" where the Venetian Beige interior comes with an Oyster headliner was solved for me because the M-Sport package includes the Anthracite headliner...

Maybe it's standard.

It doesn't show up as included when you place the order. As a matter of fact, the order summary lists the Steptronic (and you can't select the SAT when picking the options.)

Are you able to play around with a September production order and see if it's still that way?

Is there a full spec sheet on the US M-sport package? I was wondering because I noticed on BMW's UK site that their M-sport seemed to come with an aluminium M foot rest and, at least with the 6MT, a different, very sporty, short shifter. Both are very cool.

Has to be a temporary glitch. On BMWUSA the SAT requires the Sport Package. Since the Sport Package is as cosmetic as the M-Sport there really shouldn't be any obstacle for the SAT.

On BMWUSA BYO site, I was able to include these two options together on a 550i:

- Sport Package
- Sport automatic transmission with shift paddles

Sounds like an ordering system bug to me.

I think you're confusing the sport package with the M-Sport package...

Online does not show the M-Sport package yet but the dealer's systems do.
